Keep Preaching And Stop Story Telling

NEW ZEALAND IS STARVING FOR PREACHING, SO LETS KEEP PREACHING AND NOT STORY TELLING

We get visitors throughout the year who praise the preaching, and I give God the glory. What is consistently said, as was today, no church in town preaches the Bible. If they get 1 verse they are lucky, but definitely not any length of preaching and mostly a bunch of stories. This scenario is all so common here.

HOWEVER, here is the end result every time, they cannot handle preaching. They leave glad they were fed to overflowing, this being their own words. We then see some of them periodically in the year when they are starving once again, but they go straight back to where they came from after being fed.

Today, I am praying it will stick with a new couple. We talked this afternoon and tonight I am giving them my last copy of “Touch Not The Unclean Thing” which they said they would read, then I will sit with them and answer their questions.

This is actually the furthest most get. As has been the case, though, the praise was on solid preaching and lots of Bible came, but now they need to be able to handle the meat of God’s Word. I do not tell stories and I do not load up with illustrations, I scoop to the very bottom of all that is within me and unload the whole barrel that God gives to me.
