The brain is composed of what scientists call “gray matter,” a term given because the brain appears gray when autopsied. Before autopsy, it’s brilliant with lively color, but becomes “gray matter” when the body is dead.
The Bible is composed of what scholars call “gray areas,” a term given because the Bible appears gray when autopsied. Before autopsy, it’s brilliant with lively color, but becomes “gray areas” when the Bible is dead.
Can I boldly say, “There is absolutely NO gray area in the living Word of God!” Can God boldly claim, “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is NO darkness at all.” (I John 1:5). The reality is, the Bible becomes “gray matter” when we let it die in our lives. At this point, “the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14).
With the mind of Christ, there are no “gray areas” in our Christian life. It is GOD THE FATHER that reveals His Living Word to us through GOD THE SPIRIT who regenerates us as we are redeemed by GOD THE SON so that we can have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 16:10-16).
Gray in both our physical and spiritual lives causes confusion, distortion and deception of reality. Sadly, many Christians chose to live their entire lives in the dingy grey areas.
Look closely at this illusion
How straight are the rows? Though the columns are not aligned, each row of black and white squares are actually in equal parallel. If the rows appear to zigzag to you, it is the “gray areas” causing your confusion.
Here is the point
If we are not careful, we will look too hard at “gray areas” that do not exist God’s Word, that when we put them in, we cause nothing but confusion.
