Countries around the world have legalized sins that are contrary to God’s Word. Reading these lists as found in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, human nature cringes at some sins while shrugging off others. However, as God looks upon these sins, He sees them as any other sin in His Law.
It is man and not God who has categorized sin. For example, we justify lying without conscience as a “little white lie” or we perjure ourselves in a court of law—one of these is excused, the other is not. Yet, no matter how “little” or “big” we classify it, all sin is equally a serious matter with God. When it comes to a “little white lie,” read Revelation 21:8 to see what God equates it with.
As Christians, we’re to obey the laws of man if we want a quiet and peaceable life (1 Timothy 2:1-3), and obey God’s Law if we want length of days, and long life, and peace (Proverbs 3:1-2). However, when man’s law clashes with God’s Law, we are to let God be true, but every man a liar and obey God rather than men (Romans 3:4, Acts 5:29). In doing so, we in no way put ourselves above man’s law. We actually condemn ourselves under man’s law. This is illustrated in the Bible wherever God’s man disobeyed man’s law: Jesus disobeyed man’s law and was crucified, Stephen was stoned, the Apostles were beaten, imprisoned and killed. By disobeying man’s law, each of these knowingly condemned themselves by the same law they disobeyed. The ultimate disobedience to man’s law will be seen in the Tribulation. Those who refuse the Mark of the Beast will do so knowing the condemnation is death under man’s law.
As we get closer to the Rapture, man’s law will get worse and worse (2 Timothy 3:12-15). We will be faced with times where we must take a firm stand against man’s law. Why? When it comes to sin, we are not to indulge simply because man’s law has excused it. We are never to agree with sins forced upon us by man’s law. We are to always obey God’s Law over man’s!
With this said, let God be true, but every man a liar and obey God rather than men as we stand firmly against legalization of sins in the United States of America.
