Routine Healthy Checkups

From the National Institute of Health on Aging: “Going to the doctor for regular health screenings is essential for healthy aging. A 2021 study found that getting regular check-ups helps doctors catch chronic diseases early and can help patients reduce risk factors for disease, such as high blood pressure and cholesterol levels. People who went to the doctor regularly also reported improved quality of life and feelings of wellness. In recent years, scientists have developed and improved upon laboratory, imaging, and similar biological tests that help uncover and monitor signs of age-related disease.

As great a quality of life that we may attain, the reality is, our physical bodies are still doomed to the grave. However, eternity awaits our soul and spirit. Though routine health assessments can transform our physical quality of life, it is of utmost importance to transform our spiritual life before it is eternally too late. The first step in our spiritual checkup is our salvation. If you cannot say that you are 100% sure that you have eternal life, that Heaven is your home, please read “The Good News” in this newsletter and call our church office immediately. If you know that you have eternal life, that you are born again, then the next step in our spiritual checkup is to know that both our physical and spiritual lives are in conformity with God’s commands. We can know this by reading God’s Word, the Bible, and praying that God will reveal our spiritual deficiencies. When David prayed in Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts,” he recognized his wicked ways that had to be confess to God and forsaken as commanded in Proverbs 28:13 — “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

If you do not have regular physical health checkups, please ask your family doctor for advice. If you do not have regular spiritual health checkups, please be with us at our next Super Sixties Connection and be in our church services if at all possible.
