Our Spiritual Umbrella Of Protection

Have you ever noticed how people run for cover when it rains? When someone doesn’t have an umbrella, they run hard to get under cover somewhere. If someone has an umbrella, they seem to walk just as they would normally walk. The other day it was raining very hard, and I saw a certain couple’s behavior. The man didn’t have an umbrella, so he ran for the building. The lady, on the other hand, had an umbrella, so she took her time getting out of the car and strolling to the building. The man seemed aggravated because he got wet and he had to wait on his lady. She seemed to smile as she took her time enjoying the rain.

When I saw this, I realized that we often do the same thing. When we trust the Lord, we stroll through trouble in a way that Paul exclaims multiple times, glory in our tribulations (Romans 5:3; 2 Corinthians 11:23-30; 12:9-10; Philippians 2:17-18; James 1:2-3; 1 Peter 4:16). On the other hand, when we don’t trust the Lord, we run to get out of the trouble. Then we get frustrated because we see other people that seem to handle trouble easily, seemingly with a smile as they take their time enjoying life.

When we have troubles, we can be under God’s umbrella. He wants us to be under His cover; it’s called the Armor of God and described in Ephesians 6:10-20. Each piece is the Lord Jesus Christ ─ belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the Gospel, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the spirit, and prayer. In these verses, Paul is challenging believers to fight their battle covered with Jesus Christ … or, they could expect defeated lives

Are you under His spiritual umbrella, in His spiritual armor today? If not, run under his protection and let Him shelter you.
