When the labyrinth becomes inflamed, a condition called labyrinthitis occurs, causing vertigo and imbalance. … If you have trouble with your balance, talk to your doctor …”
Comparable to the physical, spiritual disorientation, dizziness and stumbling can be caused by inner ear issues (Proverbs 4:19-20). To avoid the snares of spiritual confusion we must open our ears to the wisdom and direction of God. Speaking of God, David said, “Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip” (Psalm 18:36). We must have a good footing in the labyrinth of this sinful world. Sin is a slippery slope, if not dealt with, it will keep us sliding further away from God’s will and work into a spiritual Labyrinthitis.
We as believers are to stand as a moral authority before the world, but we fail! We begin to slack off on our Bible reading, prayer and church attendance. We slide in our daily walk with God. We slide from handing out tracts and soulwinning. We slide and lose sight of where we are spiritually. We slide and lose sight of the world around us. We eventually lose our way in this labyrinth called life and do as James 1:22-24 warned, we forget what manner of man we are to be.
The answer to spiritual vertigo is found throughout the Bible. David as our prime example, a vile sinner yet a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22), teaches us how to find our way in Psalm 26. In 26:1, ask for God’s judgment. In 26:2-10 examine your own heart and life. In 26:11-12 ask God to redeem you. Applying theses verses will land us in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
