As born-again believers, the Law of the Harvest sets our minds on souls needing to be born-again, reminded by John 4:35-38 that the fields “are white already to harvest.” In these verses we’re implored to be sowing and reaping in the harvest field of this world. If we delay, it could be eternally too late for someone whom God had for us to impact. Jeremiah 8:20 can be applied to their hopeless end because of our faulty labors, “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” What a sad day for those who are watching those they could have helped as they are “cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:14-15).
As born-again believers, the Law of the Harvest is not just for lost souls, but for our born-again soul as well. We also have a dreadful judgment awaiting us. Ours is not to pay for our sins in the lake of fire, but to gain or lose rewards in eternity. Hebrews 10:31-39 places a preeminence on striving for our eternal rewards with a motivating phrase, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” 10:35-39 encourages us to patiently and faithfully serve God as we await the return of His dear Son to rapture us out of this wretched world, where 10:37 states, “yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.”
As born-again believers, the Law of the Harvest will be a continuous “great fight of afflictions” (10:32) Until Christ comes for us. This fight is brought on by our adversary the Devil who uses every trick in the book to outwit our patience and faith. Our only hope is trusting God as we strive in the power of Christ to “cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward” (10:35).
The Law of the Harvest applies to the saved and unsaved. Both groups will eternally reap what from what they have or have not sown in this lifetime. For the unsaved it’s between eternal life and eternal death, where eternal Hell has been secured without their choice. For the saved it’s between rewards or no rewards, where 2 John 1:8 encourages us not to compromise under the brutal fight of afflictions from Satan — “Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.”
